Women’s Health Tasmania is a state-wide, non-profit community health promotion organization based in North Hobart that supports women’s health and wellbeing. While they don’t operate a dedicated family violence support service, they do provide relevant more general support:
Women’s Health Information Line: A free state-wide service (1800 675 028) staffed by trained health workers who can provide information on general health issues and individual support, with translating and interpreting services available. They have active partnerships and can help connect you with appropriate services.
Short-term Counselling: They offer short-term counselling as part of their health and wellbeing activities. This is free and provides practical support for Tasmanian women.
Mental Health Support: They offer multiple services including counselling, self-care workshops, meditation classes, and physical activity programs to support mental wellbeing.
Advocacy Work: Women’s Health Tasmania provides policy advice to governments about women’s health issues.
Professional Development: They provide training and professional development for other service providers about taking a gendered approach to health and wellbeing.
