What they do

Statewide counselling and support : Through trauma-informed and evidence-based therapeutic work they support safety and stabilisation, recovery and healing. The counselling program offers a range of supports over short to long-term engagements with qualified practitioners located around Tasmania. Includes the Shark Cage program (link to Shark Cage info)

They recently created guidelines to help doctors respond to family violence affecting LGBTIQA+ people.

Training and education: They provide education and training to professionals and the community about family violence and gender equality, drawing on their 30+ years of experience.

Advocacy and policy work: They actively campaign for better laws and policies around family violence – for example, they successfully advocated for strangulation to become a stand-alone criminal offense in Tasmania.
