The Huon Domestic Violence Service (HDVS) is a specialist family violence service that supports individuals and families affected by domestic violence in the Huon Valley area of southern Tasmania.
Who can use the service?
Anyone affected by family violence in the Huon Valley regardless of gender, age, background, or situation.
- Children and young people impacted by violence
- Family members and friends concerned about someone experiencing violence
What they offer
They provide free and confidential trauma informed counselling, support, and practical assistance including:
- One-on-one counselling
- Safety planning to help keep you safe
- Referrals to other services (like housing support)
- Access to safe spaces
- Community support and connection
- Counselling for children and young people through the Huon Safe Space program
- Community education and training
- The Shark Cage program (link to the Shark Cage info)
How to access the service:
No appointments or referrals are necessary to speak with someone or book a time. Workers can meet you at safe and convenient locations throughout the Huon Valley.
